Health officials, docs hold protest against manhandling of MS DH Kishtwar

JAMMU, June 14: The employees of the Health and Medical Department along with doctors and para-medical staff today held a strong protest against the alleged manhandling of the Medical Superintendent (MS) District Hospital (DH) Kishtwar while on duty.
As per the details available with Early Times, protest by health workers and doctors rocked District Hospital Kishtwar after Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar was allegedly manhandled by an attendant of a patient.
The attendant according to the hospital officials turned furious after Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Dr Parvaiz Iqbal Wani asked him to wear a mask and maintain social distancing while putting forth any of his grievances.
But instead of listening to what the senior doctor advised the attendant assaulted him, but the people including some staff members immediately intervened and caught hold of the accused person, they said.
After massive protest and suspension of work at District Hospital Kishtwar, DC Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara immediately rushed to the spot and talked to doctors and other hospital staff following which the FIR was registered at Police Station Kishtwar against the culprit who was found to be an employee working at DC office Kishtwar. He was identified as Chuni Lal.
Sensing the gravity of the incident, DySP Hq Kishtwar Sunny Gupta and SHO Kishtwar Aijaz Wani also rushed to the hospital and took the custody of the accused person. Later, DC Kishtwar ordered his immediate suspension.
Speaking about the incident, DC Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara condemned it in strong words adding that such incidents against doctors and hospital staff who are working round the clock during COVID 19 pandemic could not be tolerated.
DC Kishtwar said that the FIR has been registered against the culprit and he was arrested by the police.
He said that being his subordinate employee, the culprit has been put under immediate suspension beside a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against him. He said that the inquiry will be completed in a time bound manner and assured strict possible action against the guilty person under law.
DC Kishtwar also directed the police to strengthen the security in District Hospital Kishtwar so that these types of incidents could not be repeated.
