8/18/2020 10:17:41 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Aug 18: Jammu and Kashmir police Tuesday has raided Career Consultancy’ in Karan Nagar, Srinagar for allegedly duping students who had approached the consultancy for the admission in institutions outside the Jammu and Kashmir and outside the country.
Officials said a team of CIK department headed by a DySp along with concerned police station raided the consultancy in Karan Nagar area of central Kashmiri’s Srinagar district on Tuesday.
A police official said that acting on a complaint the police raided Career Consultancy in Karan Nagar, owned by Iqbal Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Nabi Wani a resident Gond Arjon of Budgam district. He said that relevant records were seized for the purpose of the investigation.
The officers investigating the case have learned that the proprietor of ‘Career consultancy’ has duped many students and illegally grabbed a huge chunk of money from students. Investigation of the case is in progress, he added.
Numerous consultancies offer admissions to students in the entire gamut of professional institutions outside the state and even abroad against hefty fees, but there are no government regulations for the business. Over the last few years, Kashmir has witnessed a boom in Carrier consultancies that most often set up offices in hotel rooms and lure students of Kashmir valley for admissions in different colleges and universities outside.
“The Jammu and Kashmir government should set up a team of officials who can look into the career consultancy business. You see every year score os students visit these consultancies business owners, while many a time they loot money and do nothing. So as a student, we seek governments response on this”, said a student.
