                    | Court rejects bail plea of rape accused | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 18: Session Judge Udhampur M L Manhas on Tuesday rejected the bail application of a rape accused. The accused Abdul Wahid son of Lal Din of Magota village in Doda, who has been booked on the charges of abduction and rape and filed the bail plea in the court which was turned by the Judge. According to the police case, on 26.2.2020 complainant namely Govind Ram Son of Chand resident of Pangara Jagir tehsil lodged a report at Police station Udhampur that the accused contractor and had taken the construction work of canal near his house where he has kept the cement bags. “On 25.2.2020 applicant’s daughter who was residing at his parental home informed applicant that her minor child is sick and she is going to Udhampur for medical checkup of the child whereby applicant gave her Rs. 500/-, but till date applicant’s daughter has not reported back at home, and accused has kidnapped the daughter of the applicant and kept her at some unknown place, upon which FIR No. 102/2020 U/Ss 366 IPC was registered and investigation was started and later accused was arrested from Rainawari Srinagar and victim along with her baby were recovered from his captivity,” the police report states. The Session judge after hearing advocate for the accused and the public prosecutor Inderjeet lal Sharma for the State observed that Courts cannot lose sight of the fact that crime of violence upon women and minor children are on increase, and therefore, the perpetrator of the crime must be dealt with iron hands. Leniency in matters involving sexual offences is not only undesirable, but also against public interest. Such types of offences are to be dealt with severity and with iron hands. Showing leniency in such matters would be really a case of misplaced sympathy. The act of applicant/accused in the case in hand is not only shocking, but outrageous in contours. The granting of bail to the applicant/accused, would lead to the danger of the course of justice being thwarted. With these observations Court rejected the bail application of accused . JNF
