CJM Udhampur frames charges against 12 persons
‘Fraud of Rs 5.6 cr for Trath Gola’

Jammu, Aug 20: The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Udhampur today framed charges against all the 12 accused in fraud case of Rs 5.6 Cr.
The charge framed against accused persons in a case FIR No. 110/2013 U/S 420, 120-B/RPC P/S Kud, under investigation with Crime Branch Jammu, for their involvement in extortion of money worth croroes of rupees from an Industrialist Raj Kumar Gupta, the complainant, preliminary charge-sheet of which was produced by Crime Branch Jammu on 26-12-2018.
“Raj Kumar Gupta was lured and assured by the accused Mohd. Iqbal Mir and Pervez Ahmed Mir both resident of Batote on the pretext to purchase of precious metal (Trath Gola) from some Bakerwals at Patnitop, who were already planted by them to participate in a pre-planned game of looting hard earned money of the industrialist”, sources said, adding that he was induced that he would become a familiar and popular businessman just like big industrialists of the country, so he paid an amount of Rs.5.60 Crores to the accused for purchase of the so called precious metle (Trat-Gola).
The case initially registered with Police Station Kud on the written complainant. Later the investigation of the case was transferred to Crime Branch Jammu. During investigation allegations were proved against 12 accused persons by Crime Branch Jammu and charge sheet was accordingly produced before the CJM Udhampur.
“The Court in its proceedings has framed charges against Irfan Hamid Zargar, Mohd. Iqbal, Mohd. Akhter Mir, Muddasir, Abdul Jaleel, Ventakata Krishana Madgula, Parvej Ahmed Mir, Mohd. Tahir Bakerwal, Imran Khan, Gundeep Singh, Angat Manhas and Sandeep Singh Rana”, sources said.
They further said while framing the charges the court has observed that there was sufficient material available on the file, prima facie presuming the commission of offence by the accused and therefore they are accordingly charged for the commission of offences Under Section 420, 120-B, IPC.
