Early Times Report

Kathua, Aug 20: A daughter of a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, in Kathua has accused the Station House Officer of the women cell of barging into their house without a search warrant and abusing her family members. A 22-year old girl who runs a saloon in Kathua while addressing a news conference here alleged that the SHO women cell Kathua raided her house last night and abused her family.
The girl, who was flanked by her another sister, mother and the retired DySP father, said, “A Police team headed by SHO Women Cell Kathua entered into our house without any reason and abused the father-daughter relationship. She passed vulgar remarks during her raid and abused the sacred relationship of father and a daughter”, the girl said.
“You are sleeping with your daughter. SHO told my father”, she said. Questioning the woman SHO, the girl asked, “Whether she does the same with her father?”
The girl further alleged that the SHO is working on diktats of rich people of Kathua district. “We met, Additional SP Kathua, but he refused to listen to us”, said the wife of ex-DySP.
The girl said, “My family is being targeted because my saloon is doing good business. She called me names and humiliated me. I was at the verge of committing the suicide. If something would have happened to me who would have been responsible. I have been defamed in Kathua. I want the lady SHO should be suspended for misbehaving with women folk.”
The girl said, “Officers like the said SHO are working against the slogan of beti- bachao, beti padhao of PM Modi and such people need to be dealt with sternly.”
She said, “My phone has been seized and I am being threatened by the police at the behest of rich people of the area. They too should be taken to task.”
The girl said, “If I am found guilty I am ready to face the law. If I am proven innocent then the SHO should be dealt as per law of the land.”
The wife of the retired DySP said, “She humiliated my husband who is a retired police officer and is a heart patient. She abused my daughter. I want to ask the SHO what crime had my daughter committed? I want to ask her who is responsible for the humiliation we have faced in the area. Had my daughter committed suicide, who would have been responsible?”
Replying to a query about why the SHO raided their house the woman said, “She (the SHO) told us that a daughter of a businessman from our area has eloped with some high profile man who runs another saloon.”
The woman said, “If our daughter has any fault we would have cooperated with police. My husband is a retired police officer and is aware about all the laws. She could have investigated in a proper way.”
She said, “I want to ask the SHO who has given her the right to barge into anyone’s house. She arrested one of our workers and beat him up mercilessly.”
The retired DySP said, “I was sleeping when I heard a loud knock on my door. As soon as I opened the door she started hurling choicest of invectives. I had told her that I am a retired DySP. But she just kept on humiliating me and my daughters. She should be suspended for harassing us and ruining our reputation.”
