FFMA demands proper maintenance of Dogra Shourya Sthal Park
8/20/2020 10:09:10 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 20: Freedom Fighter Memorial Association (FFMA) J&K, Jammu on Thursday alleged that due negligence of Jammu Municipal Corporation or its workers, the condition of the Dogra Shourya Sthal Park became worse.
“Parks are one of the most visited recreational places and it is the responsibility of local management to take their care,” Chairman FFMA, Ved Gandotra said adding that the Dogra Shourya Sthal Park is used by freedom fighters and other nationalist organizations to pay tributes to martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation. “Park which has been built to facilitate the public is being neglected and falling into disrepair. It is sad to see the park go to waste because of neglect and bad maintenance. The grass and shrubs at the park are not being cut. The bushes are so tall and unkempt that snakes can live in them,” he said. He said FFMA always took initiatives to clean and maintain the Dogra Shourya Sthal Park at its own cost.
“JMC’s tall claim to make Jammu neat and clean has totally failed and the beautiful park in the city is missing its sheen with every passing day due to the careless and pathetic attitude of authorities,” he said. “It is time that the park is maintained before it is totally destroyed. I hope the concerned authorities will intervene to check the degeneration of the park and attempt to bring back the lost beauty of it,” he said. “We can’t understand why the authorities are not taking any step to clean this park despite their repeated request,” he said adding that due to the non-serious attitude of JMC officials we have decided to hold a strong protest soon.
