Blood donation camp held

SAMBA, Aug 20: A blood donation camp was today organized here at Primary Health Centre Sanoora.
The Camp was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rajinder Samyal and held on the directions of Director Health Services, Jammu. Around 18 voluntary donors donated blood in the camp.
A team of the Doctors & Paramedical staff from Blood Bank, District Hospital Samba headed by Dr. Shweta Bhagat performed the job whereas support staff was provided by Block Medical Officer, Samba HQ Nud ,Dr. Anju Bala.
Chairman, Block Development Council, Rajpura Radhay Shyam, Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa, Davinder Singh, Dy. Chief Medical Officer, Samba Dr Sanjay Sharma, Zonal Medical Officer Sanoora, Dr. Ritika, Blood Donation camp Co-ordinator, Dr Vijay Thappa, PRI members & other prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
The camp was organized following all the mandatory precautions of maintaining social distancing & other measures keeping in view the COVID -19 guidelines,
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Officer Samba, Dr. Rajinder Samyal highlighted the importance of availability of safe Blood and also emphasized the need for gearing up Voluntary Blood Donation camps to meet the need for sufficient blood especially rare blood groups in case of emergencies.
He also informed the people present that blood is required by all and can be donated by all irrespective of religion, caste, colour, creed and regions and appealed people from all strata of life to motivate regular voluntary blood donation. Consultant Pathologist, Dr, Shweta Bhagat I/C Blood Bank DH Samba informed the public that blood can be donated by a healthy person after three months and blood donation does not cause any sort of weakness or infirmity.
