BDC Chairpersons of Kishtwar District comes in support of agitating MGNREGA employees

Jammu, Aug 23: As a part of a major boost, the agitating employees working under MGNREGA today get a much need support from Block Development Council Chairpersons who urged upon the government to consider the long pending demands of agitating MGNREGA employees who are on strike since last 8 days as a result of which the work in Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department has come to standstill through out the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the details available with Early Times, President BDC Chairpersons Association Kishtwar Kishore Lal Shan accompanied by BDC Chairpersons Suresh Kumar Sharma (Kishtwar), Sharifa Begum (Mughal Maidan) Lalita Devi (Palmar), Hamida Begum (Inderwal) today held a press conference at Block Office Kishtwar and extended their full support to agitating MGNREGA employees urging upon the LG. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj to consider the demand of absorption of these MGNREGA employees including GRS, TAs, POs, Computer Operators, supporting staff in RDD department without any delay added that they will fully back the agitating employees of MGNREGA and assure them all possible support during these testing times.
The BDC Chairpersons Association said that these employees are working like bounded labourers during on going COVID 19 pandemic beside the department use their services for implementation of the various government run schemes in addition to the duties that has been assigned to them.
They said that due to ongoing strike the works in RDD department including job card verification, execution of work towards generation of wage days that directly make an impact on the poor job card holders who had already become jobless due to COVID restrictions.
They also called for enhancement of wages of all the MGNREGA employees at par with other states of the country.
“We urge the Prime Minister Narindra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to personally intervene into the matter and gives justice to MGNREGA employees who are on strike in UT of J&K since last 8 days” BDC Chairpersons added.
The local Sarpanches also assured full support to the agitating employees and calls for brining an end to the disparity with the MGNREGA employees of UT of J&K and demanded their regularisation on the pattern of other states and UTs of the country.
“We will join these agitating MGNREGA employees if need arises — let’s hope for good” said Sarpanches.
Meanwhile District President GRS Association Kishtwar Ajaiz Ahmed Sheikh extended his gratitude to BDC Chairpersons as well as Sarpanches for their support and retreated its demand for regularisation of all the MGNREGA employees working in UT of J&K without any further delay.
“We want to join our duties back—we want to serve the people-let Government resolve our issue at an earliest” said Ajaiz Sheikh.
