Big shocker for Mehbooba after Saudi Prince snubs Pak Army chief
8/24/2020 12:07:14 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 23: Former chief minister and detained head of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti is in deep shock these days after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has refused to meet Pakistan Army Chief Army General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
For the last two years Mehbooba Mufti was pinning hopes on Saudi Prince to exert pressure on Indian government to take a decision on Kashmir but the later has openly come in the support of India. Instead of giving importance to Pakistan or its touts in Kashmir Valley, Saudi Prince has taken side of India on Kashmir issue.
Credible sources said before amendment in the Article 370 and constitutional reforms in J&K on August 5, 2019, Mehbooba Mufti used to tell her supporters that Saudi Prince would not allow Indian government to abolish Article 35-A despite the fact that she was very much aware that the same article would stand during legal scrutiny.
Mehbooba Mufti was hoping that like his predecessors, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah would succumb to traditional black-mail tactics of Kashmir based parties but Union Government refused to pay any heed to the pressure tactics.
After August 5, 2019, Mehbooba Mufti and her party were hoping that Saudi Prince would intervene on the Kashmir issue but all hopes of Mehbooba were dashed.
Important to mention here that amid strained ties, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman has refused to meet Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa a couple of days back.
General Bajwa along with ISI chief had arrived in Saudi Arabia on last Monday to discusss Kashmir.
Bajwa failed to secure a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. The close bilateral ties between the two countries took a hit after Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi issued a warning to Saudi Arabia after the latter refused to act against India over the Kashmir issue.
Speaking on the first anniversary of revocation of Article 370, Qureshi had publicly slammed Saudi Arabia for not backing Pakistan over the issue of ‘organising’ a meeting of the Council of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers (CFM) on Kashmir in early February 2020.
