While Kashmir flooded with kerosene, Jammu gets a mere sprinkle: Harsh
8/28/2020 10:33:31 PM

EArly times Report

Jammu, Aug 28: Alleging that another doze of discriminatory treatment had been administered to Jammu region in the form of drastic cut in subsidized Kerosene oil supply to the region, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP & former Minister said that BJP government seemed to be hell-bent to break its own existing records of its highly biased conduct against its own core political constituency during the last few years.
He said that the figures provided by the FCS and CA Department had revealed that while Kashmir region was being flooded with Kerosene oil supply, the Jammu region was being made to content with a mere sprinkling. Not only that some districts of Jammu were altogether deprived of the supply of Kerosene only to transfer their respective quotas to Kashmir based districts. He was addressing media persons after admitting into party fold around 25 youth led by Mr. Ravind Raina, a noted educationist and businessman of Paloura.
Speaking to media persons, Singh revealed that the statistics provided by FCS and CA and available on its official website as well revealed that the government had approved allocation of 2748 kilo liters of Subsidized Kerosene Oil (SKO) for Kashmir region for August and same quantity for September 2020 as well. On the contrary, he revealed the allocation for all districts of Jammu region totaled 396 kilo liters for August and same quantity for September. Furthermore, the allocation for Rajouri and Udhampur districts was ‘zero’ for both August and September, said Singh adding that this was only a tip of the iceberg with such prejudiced treatment having been going on for past quite some time.
Singh said that not only in SKO but the FCS and CA Department had removed thousands of eligible persons of Jammu region from BPL categories thereby depriving the bonafide persons of the benefits of various government schemes. Even the opening of new ration depots in Jammu region had been kept on hold despite repeated announcements for their early establishment while providing adequate number of such depots and fair price shops in various districts of Kashmir.
Regretting the unabated pace of discrimination against Jammu region in multifarious fields even after Reorganization of State, Singh said that BJP was playing dirty politics merely to woo Kashmir voters. He regretted that while Kashmir and Ladakh continued to get focused attention of helmsmen, what was falling in the kitty of Jammu was only peanuts. Sounding a note of caution to BJP rulers, Mr. Singh said that while the saffron party would lose its core constituency of Jammu due to its policy of Kashmir appeasement, the lotus shall never bloom in Kashmir.
Prominent among those who joined Panthers Party included Yog Raj Singh, Kailash Singh, Maan Singh, Bhanu Partap Sharma, Anil Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Rohit, Balwainder Singh, Akash Singh, Akhil, Nikhil, Deepak Kumar, Vivek, Gagandeep, Sahil Jamwal, Karan besides others.
Surinder Chouhan, District President Jammu (Rural)-JKNPP was also present on the occasion.
