| AEO diverts benefits of agri schemes to himself, relatives in Rajouri | | | Ajay Sharma

RAJOURI, Aug 28: Nothing seems to be going right in Department of Agriculture in this district especially in one of the blocks where the Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) is misusing the various farmer oriented schemes and using the funds for his own purpose and his relatives.
Sources told Early Times that the AEO has over the past so many months got the funds under the various centrally sponsored schemes and gave the benefits to his relatives in the district. They said the AEO managed to get a tractor for one of his relatives and ultimately the same was used by him for personal purposes.
“The AEO managed to construct a well on his personal land and the agriculture implements like spray pumps are being dumped in a room near a local temple. The agriculture implements should have been dumped in the store of the agriculture department but that is not the case,” said sources.
The locals have appealed the higher ups of the department to hold a probe in the matter and enquire about the wrongs carried out by the AEO. They said the tractor procured by the AEO is very much present at his farmhouse and he along with his relatives have been enjoying like anything and same needs to be looked into by the officers of department.
An officer of the department on the condition of anonymity told Early Times that many complaints have been received against the AEO and it would be ensured that action would be taken against him. He said the BDC Chairpersons have also complained against the said officer and that the guilty would not be spared. The concerned AEO when contacted said that he should not be contacted and instead his higher ups should be contacted. |
