SRINAGAR, Aug 28: The recovery rate of COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir is equivalent to national average of 76 percent as 651 more Corona Virus patients recovered today and got discharged from different hospitals of the union territory.
In the meantime, 696 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today and as a result of which the total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 35,831. With seven fresh deaths being reported in past 24 hours the total number of casualties on account of Corona Virus in the union territory is 678.
Srinagar district reported 194 fresh cases of virus followed by Jammu 109 cases, Budgam 59 cases, Pulwama 57 cases, Baramulla 40 cases, Ganderbal 38 cases, Anantnag 31 cases, Bandipora 30 cases, Kathua 27 cases, Kupwara 25 cases, Udhampur 23 cases, Kulgam 11 cases, Shopian and Samba nine cases each, Rajouri and Poonch eight cases each, Doda and Kishtwar six cases each, Reasi five cases and Ramban one case. Srinagar and Kulgam districts reported two fresh deaths of Corona Virus followed by a death each in Budgam, Anantnag and Bandipora districts. So far 621 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 57. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 215 deaths.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 696 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 202 from Jammu division and 494 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 35,831. Also seven COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 651 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 195 from Jammu Division and 456 from Kashmir Division. Out of 35,831 positive cases, 7,781 are active positive, 27,372 have recovered and 678 have died; 57 in Jammu division and 621 in Kashmir division. Out of 9, 29,733 test results available, 8, 93,902 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 50,979 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,423 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,781 in isolation and 42,334 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 55,763 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 8,924 positive cases, 1,660 active positive, 7,049 recovered, 215 deaths; Baramulla has 2,766 positive cases, 508 active positive, 2,159 recovered 99 deaths; Pulwama has 2,543 positive cases, 486 active positive, 2,009 recovered, 48 deaths; Budgam has 2,390 positive cases, 649 active positive, 1,683 recovered, 58 deaths; Anantnag has 2,254 positive cases, 502 active positive, 1,703 recovered, 49 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,056 positive cases, 719 active positive, 1,312 recovered, 25 deaths; Kupwara has 2,014 positive cases, 633 active positive, 1,336 recovered, 45 deaths; Kulgam has 1,895 positive cases, 211 active positive, 1,649 recovered, 35 deaths; Shopian has 1,678 positive cases, 108 active positive, 1,542 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,343 positive cases, 580 active positive, 744 recovered, 19 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,769 positive cases, 869 active positive, 1,862 recovered, 38 deaths; Rajouri has 880 positive cases, 113 active positive, 762 recovered, five deaths; Kathua has 822 positive cases, 169 active positive, 650 recovered, three deaths; Udhampur has 778 positive cases, 141 active positive, 635 recovered, two deaths; Samba has 706 positive cases, 196 active positive, 508 recovered, two deaths.
“Ramban has 635 positive cases, six active positive, 628 recovered, one death; Doda has 400 positive cases, 65 active positive, 333 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 398 positive cases, 77 active positive, 318 recovered, three deaths; Reasi has 364 positive cases, 58 active positive, 306 recovered and Kishtwar has 216 positive cases, 31 active positive, 184 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 35,831 positive cases in J&K, 6,357 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
