Meetings indicate emergence of new political picture in Kmr

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Aug 28: Behind the scenes political maneuvering in J&K particularly Kashmir has quietly taken off after a long gap of time following National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ram Madhav’s arrival in the Valley.
As soon as the saffron party’s point man on Kashmir reached the Valley on Thursday, the fresh political dimensions taking a new shape were more than visible.
On the very first day of his two-day long visit, Ram Madhav held separate secret meetings with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) patron Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and former bureaucrat Dr Shah Faisal, who recently bid adieu to his short stint in the political sphere of J&K.
While Faisal has quit the politics, the PDP stalwart Beigh is also seen isolated in the internal politics of his party.
In a situation where the National Conference (NC), PDP and few other political outfits have tried to blew their own political trumpet by coming up with ‘Gupkar Declaration’, Beigh and Faisal’s meeting with the BJP General Secretary after his arrival in Kashmir is being perceived as a significant development as there are speculations that in the coming days new political equations could be seen emerging in the Kashmir Valley.
Though no official details of these meetings have been received, the sources confirmed that Shah Faisal had come to meet BJP General Secretary at the Circuit House in Church Lane, Srinagar.
There was an hour-long conversation between the two. Reliable sources said that Ram Madhav went to meet PDP patron Beigh at his residence in Kralsangri, Nishat in Srinagar.
There are reports that Madhav has also met few leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP). It is reported that JKAP leaders Ghulam Hassan Mir and Usman Abdul Majid called on Ram Madhav.
Mir and Majid confirmed their meeting with the BJP leader and said that there was no politics in it, adding that it was just a courtesy call.
Apart from this, Ram Madhav also met some leaders of his own party including General Secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, J&K BJP General Secretaries Vibodh Gupta and Sunil Sharma, who all reached Srinagar from Jammu. Madhav discussed the current political situation and organizational activities of the party with his colleagues from the party's J&K unit.
Ram Madhav's sudden arrival in Kashmir and then meeting Beigh, Shah Faisal and JKAP leaders is giving new political signals especially after NC and PDP’s political rhetoric of ‘Gupkar Declaration’.
