| Pakistan misguided international community over Kashmir issue: Dr Sirwal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KISHTWAR, Aug 29: Spokesperson of the district Kishtwar unit of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC), Dr Jahanzaib Sirwal today said that the ‘Gupkar Declaration’ has forced Pakistan to accept the legitimacy of mainstream political parties of J&K thus acknowledging the accession of UT with the Union of India.
In a statement issued here, Sirwal said that Pakistan through its support to ‘Gupkar Declaration’ has stepped down from demanding self-determination to restoration of statehood, thereby accepting the settlement of Kashmir issue. “Gupkar Declaration is a memorandum passed by mainstream political parties who believe in the Constitution of India under its democratic set up.
This declaration vows to earn back the federal position which the erstwhile state once had until last year,” he said and added, “Pakistan’s admission to India’s constitutional as well as democratic set up has exposed it. For past several decades they have been raising Kashmir issue at every global platform wherever they used to get a chance but now since they themselves believe that Kashmir is a part of India and they are supporting the Indian democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir, Pak should apologize to world community for misguiding world for decades and running a malicious campaign against India.”
Sirwal while strongly criticizing BJP Govt said that on the other hand those who are criticizing Gupkar Declaration while sitting at their homes have short sightedness or have some ‘vested political interests’.
“BJP has always nourished this habit of undue criticism of Congress and going against the nation at crucial junctures, be it pre-independence or post-independence,” he said.
