NC’s Political Affairs Committee has only one member from South Kashmir

Anantnag, Aug 29: The Abdullah family continues to ignore the southern region of Kashmir. It can be gauged from the fact that it’s Political Affairs Committee has just one member from South Kashmir.
The Political Affairs Committee (PAC), which met under the leadership of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Saturday in Srinagar, has a total strength of 31, sources revealed to Early Times.
They said that leaders from South Kashmir were being deliberately kept out from the party’s high decision making platform.“National Conference is a central Kashmir dominated party as 14 out of 31 members of its Political Affairs Committee come from Central Kashmir.
Four members are from North Kashmir while just one member is from South Kashmir,” A NC leader told Early Times.
He claimed that the Political Affairs Committee is mainly dominated by the old leaders and most of them don’t know the ground reality.
“In coming days, young leaders of the National Conference are going to meet and decide their future course of action. We feel depressed as we aren’t being given space despite the fact we have been worst sufferers,” said, a young NC leader.
Another National Conference leader, who heads the district in South Kashmir, said that he will not allow a parachuted leader to decide the matters of his district.
“He isn’t a political man and he doesn’t know anything about the ground realities,” he said while referring to a Member Parliament who ostensibly failed to live up to the expectations after August 2019.
Meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) was held today at party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. The meet was presided over by Party President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah. Interestingly it was the party’s first high powered meeting after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A and bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two union territories.
