Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 29: Kishtwar District on Saturday reported 21 new COVID-19 cases that include 13 from under construction project site of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool HEP at Dangdoru while other 8 cases include hospital staff members and some patients who had visited District Hospital Kishtwar for treatment.
Speaking to Early Times, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara said that out of 125 people, who underwent COVID test at Dangdoru, the Dam site of Pakal-Dool Power Project, 13 have tested positive. The DC Kishtwar said that the area has already been declared as Red Zone following the surfacing of a few cases from the project site. He said that in the next few days the administration is planning to do rigorous testing in the area to check the spread of the virus in the area.
On fixing the responsibility for the lapses, the DC Kishtwar said that the matter will be looked into at a later stage. “The primary focus of the administration is to carry out the testing in the containment zone,” he added.
The DC said that around four cases were reported from the testing of hospital staff who were close contacts of a senior doctor who had tested positive a few days ago while the rest were the patients who had visited the hospital for treatment.
The DC Kishtwar urged the people to follow the SOPs and guidelines issued by the administration from time to time.
Meanwhile, the locals said that many people have slipped from the area without being noticed as a result of which there is possibility of virus spreading in other parts of the district. They demanded immediate tracing of all such employees or persons who have visited the area in the last one week.
