| Influential man encroaches fresh water spring in Chenani | | |  Early Times Report
Udhampur, Aug 31: An influential man encroaching a fresh water spring under the very nose of the authorities in this district has triggered a row.
Sources told Early Times the man violated the building permission and encroached the water body. “The Municipal Committee Chenani paid no attention towards his act,” they added.
A local resident of Chenani said that the land where construction has taken place was earlier owned by a temple and this is not first instance of encroachment. “It is a continuous process in Chennani area. There seems to be a big nexus between the concerned authorities and the encroachers,” he added. The resident alleged that whenever authorities carry out an anti-encroachment drive the influential are spared. He said that said the man, who has encroached the spring had given an affidavit that he will not violate the permission. When contacted Executive Officer Municipality Chenani said that he would look into the matter and assured that illegal construction will be demolished.
