Rs 1240.10 crore Jal Jeevan Mission plan approved for Rajouri
264 projects proposed to cover 1.16 lakh households

RAJOURI, Sept 4: To discuss and finalise the annual action plan under Jal Jeevan Mission, the District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh on Friday chaired a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Committee, here in his office chamber.
During the meeting, the District Development Commissioner, who is also the Chairman of the District Water and Sanitation Committee, deliberated with the members upon the District Action Plan and its successful implementation, execution on ground, participation of the Panchayat 'Pani Samitis' and 05 percent community contribution as per the guidelines of the JJM.
The Superintending Engineer PHE apprised the meeting about the vision, objectives and components of the Jal Jeevan Mission including the target of hundred-percent tap water coverage of the households in the rural areas of the District.
While giving details of the annual action plan, the SE PHE informed that a total of 264 DPRs have been proposed to cover 116368 households at an estimated cost of Rs 1240.10 crore. He said the plan envisages to meet the water needs for human consumption, including households, schools, Anganwadi centres, PHCs and other establishments, besides animal consumption.
The Chairman and Committee members, after thorough discussions, approved Rs 1240.10 Crore annual plan for the execution of works under Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Chairman advised the officers of the Jal Shakti Department to complete the survey for identification of land to be involved in the execution of JJM projects and start IEC activities for maximum community participation and Panchayat 'Pani Samities' before starting the execution of the projects.
He also directed them to ensure time bound completion of the projects so that benefit in terms of drinking water facility is provided to the public within the shortest possible time.
The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer PHE, SR Shukla; Chief Planning Officer, Shama-Un Ahmed; Chief Education Officer, Gulzar Hussain; Chief Medical Officer, Dr.Sunil Sharma; District Panchayat Officer, Chander Kant Bhagat; Executive Engineer PHE Rajouri(Civil), Mushtaq Ahmed; Executive Engineer PHE Nowshera, Gurcharan Singh; Executive Engineer PHE(Mechanical) Rajouri, Bhupinder Singh; Executive Engineer I&FC Rajouri, Sageer Malik and Executive Engineer I&FC Nowshera, Hari Bushan.
