After targeting PDP in Valley, Apni Party all out to finish Cong in Jammu
9/5/2020 12:09:48 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 4: After bringing all influential leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold, the newly formed Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) appeared to the all-out to finish Congress in Jammu province.
Instead of focusing on leaders of other parties, JKAP is concentrating especially on Jammu based Congress leaders to expand its base in this part of the UT.
On Friday, former Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) president Pranab Shagotra along with his supporters joined JKAP which is a clear indication that leadership of party has decided to rope in most of the Congress leaders from Jammu province.
The ‘directionless’ leadership of Congress is finding it difficult to keep its flock together because the party has no clear policy on important and emotive issues. On the one hand ‘left-out’ Jammu based leaders are trying to give an impression that they are well-wishers of Jammu province but on the other hand party leadership has signed the ‘Gupkar Declaration’ which is hailed by Pakistan.
Credible sources said that most of the Jammu based leaders were feeling suffocated and embarrassed due to policies adopted by Kashmir based leaders of the party who were taking all policy decisions without consulting their Jammu colleagues.
Sources revealed that except half a dozen Jammu based leaders, most of the other mass base leaders were ignored by those who were at the helm of the affairs.
“JKAP has decided to take advantage of the prevailing uncertainty in the directionless Congress which is still undecided either to adopt centralist policy or following footsteps of Kashmir based parties by signing the Gupkar declaration”, sources said.
Already some prominent Congress leaders from Jammu have joined Apni Party and more are likely to follow the same path.
