Nodal Officer takes stock of Transport Nagar, adjoining markets
TNA demands Rs 50 cr package for Transport Nagar’s development

JAMMU, Sept 4: Nodal Officer appointed to review the actual position and submission of developmental proposal for Transport Nagar, convened a meeting with the stakeholders of Transport Nagar , Fruit & Vegetable Market Narwal, and Warehouse, Jammu in the Conference Hall of Kissan Ghar Narwal, Jammu.
Nodal Officer, Imam Din (KAS) Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing, J&K held threadbare discussions with Rahul Sahai, Chairman Transport Nagar Association (TNA), Neeraj Anand, President Chamber of Traders’ Federation (CTF), Deepak Gupta, Gen Secy Warehouse Traders Federation and President Fruit and Vegetable Market besides Officers of Horticulture Planning & Marketing, Agriculture and Horticulture Departments.
The emphasis was to make a document for modernization of Transport Nagar, Fruit & Vegetable Market Narwal, revival and Expansion of Warehouse viz-a-viz – Transfer of ownership rights, scientific warehousing / store & parking facility, permission for first / second floor construction to fruit and vegetable market shops, proper sewerage and drainage system, lighting of area and removal of encroachments etc. in Transport Nagar.
As decided in the meeting, the Nodal Officer Imam Din along with Rahul Sahai, Chairman TNA, Neeraj Anand, President CTF and the concerned stakeholders of different segments visited the sites at Transport Nagar, F&V Market Narwal and Warehouse Jammu in order to take on-spot stock of the urgent developmental requirements for these markets. It was decided that a concrete proposal regarding the on ground position and requirements for expansion / development shall be prepared and submitted to higher authorities for consideration of suitable economic package for the revival of these business hubs of the Union Territory of J&K.
During visit of Nodal Officer to Transport Nagar Rahul Sahai sensitized him about various long pending issues of Transport Nagar.
Sahai demanded one time Rs 50 crore package for over hauling of Transport Nagar.
After having round of Transport Nagar, Imam Din Nodal Officer had a press briefing at Transport Nagar Association office and assured TNA that he will project all the issues to K.K. Sharma, Advisor to Lt Governor J&K and will demand the required amount.
