JAMMU, Sep 4: Prof (Dr) Kulwant Singh’s works has earned him a “Life Time Achievement Award for Best Academician in the field of Ayurveda”. The award included a citation, shawl and bouquet. The award was presented to him by Dr Govind Ram Gupta, President,Vishav Ayurveda Parishad, JK, Dr Jitender Gupta, Secretary Vishva Ayurveda Parishad, JK, Prof Dr Sudesh Gupta, Dr Lotika Bharti, Incharge Teacher Cell JK and other members of Vishav Ayurveda Parishad, JK.
Dr Kulwant was conferred the award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of Ayurveda spreading over 30 years. Dr Kulwant Singh is the former Director of Institute for Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (IPGT&RA) and Head of the Department, Department of Shalya Shalakya, Gujrat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar, specializing in the area of Shalya Shalakya, Parasurgical: Kshara sutra, Agnikarma and Jalaukavacharna.
Born in Jammu on 13-04-1941, Singh is at present serving as Director, Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research, Jammu. He did his graduation from Government Ayurveda College, Jammu University after which he moved on to Benaras Hindu University and joined as Honorary House Surgeon at SS Hospital, BHU Varanasi. Afterwards, he obtained his Masters as well as Doctor of Philosophy Degrees from BHU, Varanasi and served as Clinical Registrar in the Department of Shalya Shalakya, IMS, BHU.
Dr Kulwant has also wrote a book titled “Kshara Sutra Therapy in Fistula-in-Ano & other Ano-Rectal Disorders”, published by the National Academy of Ayurveda, New Delhi. |
