Rajouri, Oct 12: The negligence of Public Works (Road and Building) Department Rajouri has been causing huge difficulty to the people due to huge potholes, which have come up in the Bus Stand here. These potholes have ostensibly become death traps for the people.
Sources told Early Times that the work of blacktopping and construction of drains at Bus Stand Rajouri was started nearly one and half years ago by the PWD Rajouri but after laying down of concrete, the work was suspended by the contractor due to non-payment.
“These concretes also hit the glass doors showcases of the shops situated in the Bus Stand and caused loss of the property. Apart from it, many accidents have taken place due to potholes, ditches developed on the surface as the motorists fall into it,” they alleged.
They further said that many senior officials including Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, VIP’s and other officials also pass through it daily but never take care of the problems being faced by the people. The locals said they had expressed hope that all pending development works will be done at pace during the Lieutenant Governor Administration but now it seems that nothing has changed so far.
The Executive Engineer PWD Rajouri Zubair Choudhary, when contacted said that the work was suspended as the contractor refused to work midway due to non clearance of his payment. He further said that now the work has been taken under languishing project but the funds have not been received till date. |
