Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 12: Even as former Chief Minister and the National Conference, President, Omar Abdullah has decided to leave his official accommodation by the end of this month, some of his friends accused of being “beneficiaries of the NC regime” have offered him their bungalows.
Sources said Omar has been offered bungalows by atleast two prominent business families of Kashmir both of whom were seen as close to the NC and were allegedly “benefitted the most when the Abdullahs were in power.”
Sources said one such friend of Omar who lives in Raj Bagh locality has offered his own house to the NC President. Sources said this businessman had personally called Omar telling him that his bungalow was open for him.
Sources said another similar offer has been made a businessman from Nishat locality. Sources said this businessman also told Omar that his mansion was open for his living and that he can feel free to live there.
Sources said Omar has thanked both the families for their “friendly gesture” but that he has declined to accept the offer.
Sources said Omar is tight lipped on where he plans to shift after evicting the government accommodation comprising of two bungalows on the fortified Gupkar Road.
It is the third such offer to Omar, after his father Dr Farooq Abdullah. Asked him to live with them. As per the sources, on the birth anniversary of NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, Farooq had told Omar that he should live with them at their private residence in the same Gupkar locality.
It was reliably learnt that Omar has been touch with his friend in New Delhi about his plans about shifting to a new location.
Though the NC president was understood to be interested in shifting to Raj Bagh locality, sources said there are security issues linked to such a move.
Despite repeated attempts Omar was not available for comments.
