Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 12: Two power distribution transformers near the Government Girls High School Simbal Camp RS Pura pose a grave threat to the lives of people and the students.
According to locals these two transformers have been installed near the entrance point of GGHS Simbal Camp, making hundreds of students vulnerable to threat but the concerned department has never paid any attention towards this grave issue.
“School administration as well as the locals have approached the department for relocation of transformers in order to avoid any untoward incident, which can befall any time,” they said further adding that live wires are just in the reach of children.
They said that during rains, the road near these transformers is filled with water and which touches them and can lead to short circuits but despite all these threats, the department hardly bother to take corrective measures for the safety of students as well as the local people.
The locals alleged that this is not the only case, there are many such locations where transformers have been installed in very crucial points.
When Early Times contacted the XEn Jammu Division-2 PD Singh, he said that he would take note of the matter as he was not aware of such a problem and would take appropriate measures.
