EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Oct 18: Several Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals across Rajouri district are up in arms against the administration as they apprehend alleged misappropriation of funds meant for Border Area Development Programme (BADP) in the district.
Local natives of Keri sector, Seri Deeng area and many other villages located right on the LoC of Border district Rajouri lambasted district administration Rajouri for not keeping a strict vigil over the misuse and diversion of the funds allocated for BADP.
People in one voice have castigated the administration particularly few mischievous characters, who hold the master key of all malpractices, scams and misappropriations. They said that the general masses would feel relieved if such officials had been transferred after formation of UT but unfortunately they are still clinging to the chairs being occupied by them for more than 5 years.
People of Keri sector alleged that a major amount under BADP was only released to one Panchayat which is an act of gross injustice with other areas.
General public and social organizations have also criticized the administration for diverting the funds from border areas to towns and other undesired locations just for the “sake of making quick bucks.” It is worthwhile to mention here that many times people of border areas have also raised the issue of construction of low standard bunkers. Responsible natives claimed that even after formation of UT few influential individuals are holding control over the disbursal of BADP funds. They appealed for detailed inquiry into the matter so that the facts could be ascertained.
“As a matter of extremely great concern the safety and security of the common people living near hostile and volatile LoC is also under grave threat and has been compromised to a great extent in order to gratify concealed agendas,” people claimed.
When contacted DC Rajouri Mohd Nazir Sheikh claimed that the version of any bungling is baseless and there is a criterion of using funds within the limit of 10 Kms from LoC.
