BJP’s campaign to ‘educate’ farmers receives dull response
10/19/2020 12:28:58 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 18: Like other parts of the country, the J&K BJP has also started a campaign to counter opposition’s ‘false propaganda’ against Farmers’ bills recently passed in the Parliament.
But BJP’s campaign in J&K received a dull response as the party has deputed those leaders who are unaware of the problems being faced by the farming community. Secondly, party leaders have failed to mobile the genuine farmers in the campaign.
After directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president J P Nadda, J&K BJP, like other parts of the country, has launched a campaign to reach out to farmers. “It is all due to factionalism in the party that the campaign has failed to take off effectively. Those who are aware of farmers’ issues are sidelined while people with non-agriculture background have been given the charge of this campaign”, a senior BJP leader, wishing anonymity, said and added that instead of reaching out to the real farmers BJP leaders were only addressing party workers at rural areas and posting pictures on the social media just to befool the leadership.
During the last 15 days, J&K BJP has started this campaign to counter opposition’s propaganda but party leaders have failed to make any impact on the ground due to leadership’s non-serious approach.
Sources said that neither top leadership nor local level leaders were serious in countering opposition’s propaganda as most of the leaders were themselves unaware of these bills.
On September 25, Prime Minister had asked all the BJP Karyakartas that they should reach out to the farmers on the ground and inform them in a simplified manner about the importance, intricacies of the new farm reforms and how these will empower them.
Our ground connect will bust the “propaganda” being spread in the virtual world, PM Modi stated.
“Previous governments used to make a complicated web of promises and laws which farmers or labourers could never understand. But the BJP-led NDA government has constantly tried to change this situation and has introduced reforms for the welfare of farmers,” said the PM.
