SRINAGAR, Oct 30: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir has achieved major success in its fight against COVID-19 as there are mere seven percent of active cases of the virus as on date with the recovery rate being more than the 91 percent. The union territory reported 566 new cases of Corona Virus today following which the total number of positive cases reached 94,330. As five more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours or so the total number of casualties due to the virus reached 1,471. Srinagar district reported 141 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 109 cases, Baramulla district 66 cases, Udhampur district 30 cases, Ganderbal district 28 cases, Budgam district 26 cases, Kupwara district 25 cases, Pulwama district 20 cases, Kishtwar district 19 cases, Bandipora, Doda and Kathua districts 14 cases each, Anantnag and Shopian districts 12 cases each, Poonch district eight cases, Ramban and Reasi districts seven cases each, Samba district six cases, Rajouri district five cases and Kulgam district three cases.
In the past 24 hours or so one Corona Virus death each was reported from Srinagar, Jammu, Baramulla, Kupwara and Doda districts. So far 978 virus deaths have been reported from Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 493.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 566 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 219 from Jammu division and 347 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 94,330. Also five COVID-19 deaths have been reported; two from Jammu division and three from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 654 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 277 from Jammu Division and 377 from Kashmir Division. Out of 94,330 positive cases, 6,835 are active positive, 86,024 have recovered and 1,471 have died; 493 in Jammu division and 978 in Kashmir division.
Out of 22, 84,588 test results available, 21, 90,258 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 55,274 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 16,336 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 6,835 in isolation and 45,064 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 85,568 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 19,245 positive cases, 1,599 active positive, 17,293 recovered, 353 deaths; Budgam has 5,974 positive cases, 285 active positive, 5,595 recovered, 94 deaths; Baramulla has 5,946 positive cases, 1,473 active positive, 4,328 recovered, 145 deaths; Pulwama has 4,648 positive cases, 208 active positive, 4,360 recovered, 80 deaths; Kupwara has 4,419 positive cases, 411 active positive, 3,935 recovered, 73 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,224 positive cases, 235 active positive, 3,915 recovered, 74 deaths; Bandipora has 4,031 positive cases, 231 active positive, 3,754 recovered, 46 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,533 positive cases, 218 active positive, 3,283 recovered, 32 deaths; Kulgam has 2,482 positive cases, 92 active positive, 2,344 recovered, 46 deaths and Shopian has 2,200 positive cases, 95 active positive, 2,070 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 17,458 positive cases, 835 active positive, 16,368 recovered, 255 deaths; Rajouri has 3,190 positive cases, 66 active positive, 3,077 recovered, 47 deaths; Udhampur has 2,700 positive cases, 133 active positive, 2,535 recovered, 32 deaths; Doda has 2,654 positive cases, 132 active positive, 2,476 recovered, 46 deaths; Kathua has 2,439 positive cases, 62 active positive, 2,346 recovered, 31 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,247 positive cases, 234 active positive, 1,991 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,168 positive cases, 264 active positive, 1,879 recovered, 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,909 positive cases, 105 active positive, 1,790 recovered, 14 deaths; Ramban has 1,590 positive cases, 74 active positive, 1,503 recovered, 13 deaths and Reasi has 1,273 positive cases, 83 active positive, 1,182 recovered, eight deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 94,330 positive cases in J&K, 9,742 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
