After ED summon to Abdullah, Haji Yousuf case haunts Omar!
10/30/2020 11:53:36 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 30: Even as the Enforcement Directorate has questioned former Chief Minister and National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah over the multi-crore cricket scam, his son and successor Omar Abdullah is understood to be having sleepless nights. Sources said the National Conference in general and the Abdullahs in particular apprehend that what if the mysterious death case of NC leader Haji Yousuf is reopened.
The family of the deceased leader has long been alleging the Abdullahs and some other leaders of the NC were “involved in his murder”. During the PDP-BJP alliance the family had sought fresh investigations.
NC leader Haji Yousuf had died in police custody in Srinagar on 29th September, 2011, after he was reportedly ordered to be detained by the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
As per the family, Haji Yousuf was summoned by the then Chief Minister at this residence where he was “beaten ruthlessly which led to his death.”
But the then government led by Omar had refuted the claims saying that Yousuf had died in police custody after he was detained at the residence of the then Chief Minister.
Sources said the NC apprehends that after the multiple summons issued to senior Abdullah into the cricket scam, there was every possibility that Omar may “also land in soup.”
“There is a definite tension among all of us over the issue (Haji Yousf),” said an NC leader on the condition of anonymity.
The NC has been terming the quizzing of Dr Abdullah as “coercion” in a bid to muzzle the voice of the so called Gupkar Declaration.
It is pertinent to mention that the Abdullahs had taken a lead to revive the so called Gupkar declaration a few weeks ago.
After the release of former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti such activities have intensified.
Despite repeated attempts, Omar Abdullah or other NC leaders were not available for comments.
