HCBA presidium discusses demands

Jammu, Nov 2: The newly constituted Presidium of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu raised several demands and emphasized for their addressal.
The presidium held a press conference at Press Club Jammu under the Chairmanship of Ved Raj Wazir, Sr. Advocate & former president accompanied by D.K. Khajuria, Former President P.S. Dutta, Sr. Adv. & Former President, S. Daljeet Singh Saini, Former President, S. Surinder Singh, former President, M.K. Bhardwaj, Sr. Adv. & Former President, Sunil Sethi, Sr. Adv. & Former President, M.A. Goni Sr. Advocate, P.N. Raina, Sr. Adv., R.K. Kotwal, Adv., Radha Sharma, Adv, Mandeep Reen, Adv. as members of Presidium and Pawan Manni, Advocate, as Member Secretary.
The Presidium considered the various problems being faced by the legal fraternity especially the young lawyers, due to COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in restrictions for physical appearance as well as entry in the High Court and subordinate Courts. The day to day affairs of the Bar Association, Jammu, concerning legal fraternity was also considered by the Presidium of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu and have unanimously resolved on the following issues.
They decided to constitute a committee of its members considering the grant of financial assistance to its needy members and will also approach LG for grant of financial assistance to the advocates effected by COVID – 19 pandemic.
It was also decided to request the High Court to release funds from Advocates Welfare Funds maintained by High Court as well as by the Ld. Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, for the welfare of Advocates who are without work since March, 2020 because of COVID – 19.
Bar Association has decided to become party in contempt petition pending in the High Court against four young members and persuade the Bench to close the contempt proceedings.
Bar Association will immediately meet LG to submit a memorandum of Charter of demands of legal fraternity of Jammu province, also persuade the Lt Governor to restore earlier system of registration of documents by judicial officers, request for creation of Family Court, State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission within the Court Complex at Janipur, Jammu including the location of central Administrative Tribunal within the Court Complex Janipur, Jammu.
