Sources said the intelligence agencies have raised the alarm in the wake of last few months of infiltration bids and smuggling of arms and ammunition from borders along the Jammu region.
Sources said the intelligence agencies have inputs that some of the arms smuggled into Indian territory could reach Jammu district and that terror groups were desperate to make such attempts.
While the Jammu and Kashmir Police are on the toes, sources said the Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, Sridhar Patil, is personally coordinating with the other wings of the security including the Border Security Force to monitor the situation.
Sources said the focus in more to beef up the night vigil here lest any terror groups can sneak into the winter capital during darkness.
Sources said additional deployments of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force were likely to be deployed in Jammu in the coming days.
