Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Nov 2: Many students who fell prey to deadly COVID-19 pandemic and in one such similar case a girl studying in 6th semester of Kishtwar Degree college missed her two papers after she tested positive for the virus.
As per the details available with Early Times, 6th semester student (name withheld) of Degree College Kishtwar is battling hard for appearing in exam for two papers viz Generic Geography and Political Science held on 22-9-2020 and 26-9-2020 respectively after she tested positive for COVID-19.
The parents of the victim girl told the Early Times that after she tested positive for COVID, they took up the matter with college authorities who assured them that she will be provided with an opportunity to appear in the exams on some other day adding that since last two months their daughter was suffering as college management fail to conduct the examination.
They informed that the college authorities has now thrown the ball into the court of university authorities which has unnecessarily delayed the holding of the left out papers adding that delay on part of the college management has put the career of the student at risk since in case the college management fail to address the issue, their apprehension of loading of an academic year for her.
They urged upon the college authorities and university management to consider the case on humanitarian grounds and save the carrer of aspiring girl student.
When contacted Swami Raj, Controller Examination, Degree College Kishtwar agreed that the university authorities had given the verbal consent for holding the examination of the girl on some other day adding that they have taken up the matter with university authorities and are hopeful for positive response.
“We have written a detail letter to University about this instance case- we are waiting for the positive response from the university authorities” said Swami Raj.
It is pertinent to mention that the examination of the 6th semester was conducted by Kishtwar College and even the elevation of marks sheets are being done at college itself which itself reflects the lackadaisical approach of the college management and the university officials who seems hell bent to punish the meritorious college student who is suffering both due to COVID 19 as well as due to college management.
Despite repeated attempts, controller examination, university of Jammu could not be reached out for the comment.
