DC discusses preparedness for disaster response drill

DODA, Nov 2: A preparatory meeting for successful conduct of earthquake and landslide disaster response drill scheduled to be held on November 4 and 5, 2020 by NDRF was held today here under the chairmanship Deputy Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode- the Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority.
The Drill is being held to evaluate the preparedness of the district for earthquake and landslide like disaster events and the lessons learnt from the mock exercise and the gaps identified will help in strengthening the disaster response mechanisms in the district, the DC added. The DC directed all the stakeholders to ensure 100% participation along with their officials for successful conduct of the drill which aims at to generating greater awareness among the masses to deal with disaster like events effectively.
The meeting decided that the mock drill on earthquake shall be conducted at Sports Stadium Doda, besides on landslide mock drill shall be conducted at the outskirts of the town i.e on Barath road.
The DC directed the executors to ensure the availability of all important equipments at the designated locations well in advance, besides, he appointed the AD FCS &CA Doda as venue incharge and directed the Tehsildar Doda to frame the list of all the stakeholders who shall be invited to participate in the program.
The presence of voluntary organizations and NGOs was stressed upon.
Police authorities were also asked to remain present alongwith their frontline staff during the program.
Among others present at the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer BDA, CPO Doda, Chief Medical Officer, SE Hydraulics, Tehsildar Doda, EO MC Doda, Bhaderwah, DSP DAR besides other concern ed Officers.
