Jammu, Nov 16: Commissioner/Secretary to Govt. Hr. Education Dept. Talat Parvez Rohella along with Director Colleges Higher Education Prof. M.Y. Peerzada paid a visit to Govt. Degree College Dudu Basant Garh located at remote corner of District Udhampur.
He was also accompanied by DGM JKPCC Pankaj Sahwney and Goutam Raina Manager, JKPCC. The main purpose of the visit was to select some suitable land for the construction of College building as earlier land chosen for the college had a very high elevation and not found suitable for construction of buildings due to various technical issues.
Chief Guest (Commissioner/Secretary) interacted with the local public including BDC Chairman Basant Garh Kewal Parihar, various sarpanches, panches and prominent citizens of the area. From the local administration, Yasir Arafat Tehsildar BasantGarh and Bishan Dass Naib Tehsildar Dudu were also present.
After hectic efforts by the Commissioner/Secretary, Director Colleges and Engineers a new private land was selected at Shiv Gali for the College over which the local residents mutually agreed upon.
The owners of the land also gave their consent to donate the land for this noble cause. Commissioner Secretary gave on spot instructions to concerned Naib Tehsildar to complete all revenue formalities in this regard at the earliest so that higher Education Dept. may take necessary steps to start the construction work.
Earlier Principal of the College Dr. Bhavnaish Chand welcomed the Chief Guest, Director Colleges and other dignitaries and apprised Chief Guest about the various issues related to the College. Chief Guest listened the issues patiently and gave insurance to resolve them at the earliest.
On this occasion Chief Guest had also one to one interaction with the staff. At the end Principal of the College thanked the Chief Guest and Director Colleges to spare their valuable time out of their busy schedule for paying maiden visit to the College which is located at remote and tough station.
