DDC Kishtwar reviews winter preparedness of departments

KISHTWAR, Nov 23: District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Sharma, today reviewed the winter preparedness and logistic arrangements of various departments here at a meeting.
The meeting discussed advance measures for maintaining road connectivity, supply of power and water during the winters and particularly during the ongoing District Development Council elections and Panchayat by-polls in the Snow bound areas.
The meeting was attended by Officer in Command GREF, Guatum Singh; Executive Engineer, PMGSY, Mohinder Kumar; Executive Engineer, PWD, Division Kishtwar, Romesh Kumar; Executive Engineer, PWD Division Dachhan Marwah, Aslam Lone; Executive Engineer PWD Division Chatroo, Pawan Kumar; Executive Engineer PDD, Narootam Kumar; AEE, PHE Mushtaq Ahmed; Representative of NHIDCL besides other officials.
At the outset, the heads of the various departments briefed the meeting about various arrangements made by their departments for the upcoming winter session.
The DDC passed a slew of directions and asked the concerned officers to adopt proactive approach to address the needs and requirements of the people, particularly in snow bound areas of Dachhan Marwah, Warwan and Paddar.
He directed Executive Engineer PHE to ensure the uninterrupted drinking water supply in the snow bound areas and ensure the buffering of water pipes in these areas to tackle any emergency.
The Executive Engineer PDD, Kishtwar briefed the meeting about the available buffer stocks of the transformers and the poles with the departments to tackle emergency situation in winters.
DDC asked the Executive Engineer PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply besides ensure timely restoration of the damaged transmission lines to avoid any mess.
Besides, the representative of NHIDCL briefed the chair that all the requisite measures have been placed in to tackle with the ensuing snow falls to keep Sinthal Bye Pass road open.
He informed that additional high tech snow clearance machines which are to be deployed during the snow fall have been tendered for.
The Executive Engineer PWD of all the divisions were directed to ensure the timely snow clearance in their respective divisions during the upcoming snow fall.
Executive Engineer PMGSY was also directed to ensure the clearance on their roads within rural areas.
Strict directions were given regarding the deployment of the road clearance machinery in the areas of Warwan, Marwah and Dachhan as the security forces and the police personnel have to be de-inducted after the end of ongoing DDC elections.
Executive Engineer PMGSY, Mohinder Kumar who has been appointed as Nodal officer was directed to coordinate the whole exercise of the snow clearance during the ensuing winter season.
The OC GREF was asked to ensure the timely snow clearance on the Galhar-Paddar-Sansari Axis during the election days and after.
