COVID-19 positive cases in JK reach 106899 with 351 new cases, 12 fresh deaths

SRINAGAR, Nov 23: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 93.38 percent as 608 more virus affected patients were discharged from different hospitals today. The total number of positive cases in the union territory reached 1, 06,899 with 351 new cases and with 12 fresh deaths the death toll reached 1641.
Jammu district reported 98 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 79 cases, Budgam and Doda districts 23 cases each, Udhampur district 20 cases, Kupwara district 17 cases, Baramulla district 16 cases, Kishtwar district 15 cases, Pulwama and Ramban districts 10 cases each, Ganderbal and Samba districts six cases each, Anantnag, Bandipora, Shopian, Kathua and Reasi districts four cases each, Kulgam and Rajouri districts three cases each and Poonch district two cases.
Udhampur district in Jammu division reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by two deaths each in Srinagar, Jammu and Samba districts. A death each was reported in Budgam, Ganderbal and Kulgam districts in Kashmir valley. So far 1,079 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 562.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 351 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 185 from Jammu division and 166 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 06,899. Also 12 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; seven from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 608 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 214 from Jammu Division and 394 from Kashmir Division. Out of 1, 06,899 positive cases, 5,431 are active positive, 99,827 have recovered and 1,641 have died; 562 in Jammu division and 1,079 in Kashmir division.
Out of 28, 31,855 test results available, 27, 24,956 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 7, 67,082 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 19,512 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5,431 in isolation and 45,989 in home surveillance. Besides, 6, 94,509 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 22,429 positive cases, 1,419 active positive, 20,605 recovered, 405 deaths; Baramulla has 7,259 positive cases, 482 active positive, 6,618 recovered, 159 deaths; Budgam has 6,728 positive cases, 303 active positive, 6,326 recovered, 99 deaths; Kupwara has 5,076 positive cases, 511 active positive, 4,484 recovered, 81 deaths; Pulwama has 4,997 positive cases, 152 active positive, 4,759 recovered, 86 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,507 positive cases, 144 active positive, 4,286 recovered, 77 deaths; Bandipora has 4,343 positive cases, 171 active positive, 4,122 recovered, 50 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,104 positive cases, 230 active positive, 3837 recovered, 37 deaths; Kulgam has 2,579 positive cases, 66 active positive, 2,464 recovered, 49 deaths and Shopian has 2,305 positive cases, 71 active positive, 2,198 recovered, 36 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 19,844 positive cases, 578 active positive, 18,975 recovered, 291 deaths; Rajouri has 3,381 positive cases, 99 active positive, 3,233 recovered, 49 deaths; Udhampur has 3,322 positive cases, 400 active positive, 2,880 recovered, 42 deaths; Doda has 2970 positive cases (including 23 cases reported today) with 174 active positive cases, 2744 recoveries (including 20 cases recovered today), 52 deaths; Kathua has 2,687 positive cases, 64 active positive, 2,588 recovered, 35 deaths.
“Samba has 2,374 positive cases, 141 active positive, 2,205 recovered, 28 deaths; Poonch has 2,371 positive cases, 69 active positive, 2,280 recovered, 22 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,354 positive cases, 178 active positive, 2,160 recovered, 16 deaths; Ramban has 1,851 positive cases, 115 active positive, 1,718 recovered, 18 deaths and Reasi has 1,418 positive cases, 64 active positive, 1,345 recovered, nine deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 06,899 positive cases in J&K, 10,599 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
