Early Times Report

POONCH, Nov 23: The construction work for the Panchayat Ghar at Sailani village in Mankot Tehsil of district Poonch was taken up six years ago but its completion has yet to see the light of day.
The building has been under construction for the last six years and as the completion of the project lingers on the Panchayat representatives are facing various difficulties.
Sarpanch Sailani Khalid Hussain informed that the construction of this Panchayat Ghar was started in 2014 but due to carelessness of the concerned department, the work has not been completed yet.
Locals blamed the department and said that Rs 22 lakh so far has been spent for the construction of the building but it has not been handed over to the panchayat representatives yet.
They said that though the construction work of the building was done at a rapid pace initially but after completing some work it has been abandoned for last few years and no attention is being paid towards its completion by the concerned department.
Sarpanch said that abandoning the construction of the building midway should be investigated and the building should be completed as soon as possible so that the Panchayat members heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Block Development Officer Mankot said that some money is being spent for the construction of Panchayat Ghar under MGNREGA scheme due to which the work of the building has not been completed yet.
He said that soon the Panchayat Ghar building would be completed it would be handed over to the Panchayat members. He said that he had also raised the issue in the Back to Village programme but no solution has been found yet.
