SAC demands two constituencies for DPs of 1947

Jammu, Dec 8: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in a meeting held at Lower Gadi Garh Jammu, urged upon Justice (Retd.) Ranjna Parkash Desai, Chairperson Delimitation Commission to carve out 2 assembly constituencies for DPs of 1947 from POK out of 7 increased assembly seats for the time being till the Reorganization Act of 2019 is reviewed and amended accordingly to defreeze DP’s share of 8 seats out of remaining 24 reserved for the people of POK as the same have been captivated again without any reason and justification. Addressing the meeting, Gurdev Singh President alongwith Santosh Sharma and Dwarka Nath Khajuria, said that Delimitation Commission has been setup to re-demarcate the assembly constituencies in UT of J&K to give proper representation to all sections of society to represent their aspirations. He said that Delimitation commission has almost completed the data collection process to carve out the new constituencies on the basis of 2011 census.
While expressing his concern Gurdev Singh said that despite of several representation made by DPs in this regard, no feedback has been taken from DP’s yet.
He said that DPs are the most sufferers section of society and their legitimate grievances with regard to their adequate rehabilitation, were ignored and denied.
