| Justice Rajesh Bindal appointed as acting Chief Justice J&K, Ladakh High Court | | | Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 8: The President of India has appointed Justice Rajesh Bindal as the chief justice of the common High Court for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The notification dated December 8 has been issued pursuant to the retirement of Chief Justice Gita Mittal.
"In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Justice Rajesh Bindal, senior-most Judge of Common High Court for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh, to perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 09 December, 2020 consequent upon the retirement of Kumari Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice, Common High Court for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh," said a notification, issued by Ministry of Law and Justice.
Justice Rajesh Bindal was born on 16th April, 1961 at Ambala City in the State of Haryana (India). He did LL.B. from Kurukshetra University in 1985 and joined profession in High Court of Punjab & Haryana in September 1985. He represented Chandigarh Administration before Central Administrative Tribunal for more than a decade till 2004. He was elevated as a Judge of High Court of Punjab & Haryana on March 22, 2006.
