| TMF appeals JMC to stop burning of garbage | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: Team Mask Force chairman Vijay Sharma Rtd. DC state Taxes in an appeal to Mayor of Jammu Municipal corporation has urged to stop burning of garbage and waste in dump either in open or otherwise in violation of NGT norms & JKPCB Order of 4th February 2020 imposing restrictions on open burning of municipal solid waste, biomass, plastic waste & Horticulture waste etc and issued statutory directions to all Urban Local Bodies (Municipal corporation, Municipal Committees and Municipal Councils) across the Union Territory for strict compliance. The non- serious approach towards the National Green Tribunal a d J&K PCB orders is despite the fact that that Jammu has already been declared as non-attainment city for not being able to maintain prescribed air quality.
TMF chairman Vijay Sharma has already in its press releases have warned that Air Pollution also affects Covid-19 cases as burning of solid waste generates lot of poisonous gases adding the Union Health Ministry of Environment & central Pollution control Boards are reportedly laying thrust on controlling the air Pollution as the same Carries the risk of spreading the deadly Novel Coronavirus particularly during the winter months. The open burning of Municipal solid waste is not only the violation of National Green Tribunal &J&K PCB Orders but also against the Municipal Solid Waste Management Rules,2016 where under such an activity is strictly Prohibited. |
