Early Times Report
SUNDERBANI, Dec 13: In a glaring example of discrimination 15 Panchayats of this tehsil in the Rajouri district have been left out of the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) with the funds being allocated to just two Panchayats in the tehsil.
Sources told Early Times that out of 17 Panchayats in the Sunderbani tehsil in Rajouri district funds have been allotted to two Panchayats while the rest of the Panchayats have been left out of the whole process. The funds under the BADP have been allotted to Bhajwal A and Bhajwal B Panchayats of the Sunderbani tehsil.
Sources said that 50 lakhs have been allotted to the two Panchayats for carrying out works related to the construction of a bridge and road respectively. They said that while 23 lakhs have been allotted to the construction of a road from Ghai to Keri bridge an amount of 27 lakhs has been allotted in connection with construction of a road from Mirza house to Sita Ram mohalla.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Sunderbani, Raman Kumar Sharma said that he does not know anything about the matter. Same matters were echoed by ACD Rajouri, Sushil Khajuria who asked to contact the office of Chief Planning Officer, Rajouri in this regard.
When contacted Shama-un-Ahmed, Joint Director (E&S) Chief Planning Officer, Rajouri said that he has been transferred and the person who was sent as replacement has not joined the office so far. The locals and the Panchayat representatives have urged LG Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and ensure that justice is done.
