Jammu, Dec 17: In continuation to its endeavour to provide best of the Cancer care and treatment, with state-of-the-art technology and expertise of a proficient team, American Oncology Institute at ASCOMS Hospital , Jammu has achieved another milestone last week.
This is not just a story of medical excellence, but of hope and positivity in these difficult times of COVID-19 pandemic. Anusha (name changed) a 9 year old girl from Kathua district was complaining of progressively increasing abdominal swelling along with falling appetite resulting in her deteriorating health. Restrictions on movement during lockdown had further delayed the child’s evaluation and treatment management, adding to her and her family’s misery. In such difficult times, a premium and Jammu region’s only exclusive Cancer center, American Oncology Institute at ASCOMS Hospital, became a ray of hope for the family. After examining Anusha’s case, the team of experts at AOI Jammu got to their work. A detailed work-up with CT scan and blood tumor markers by the team revealed a huge tumor originating from her right ovary and occupying almost all of her stomach. The parents were told and explained in detail about the whole treatment plan that would have included 4 chemotherapy cycles followed by oncology surgery. At the hospital, the child received timely chemotherapy under the Auyshman Bharat programme.
