Health workers working for years haven’t submitted their academic certificates, reveals RTI

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 17: At least seven health workers at Kalakote block are reportedly serving the Health Department for the past several years without submitting their academic and professional degrees/certificates to their respective drawing and disbursing officer.
This development came to light in the wake of a RTI application moved by an information seeker a few months ago. “I filed, a RTI in four months ago, and requested the PIO, in the office of Block Medical Officer Kalakote, to furnish the academic and professional degrees/certificates, after hectic efforts the BMO office furnished incomplete information “, the information seeker told this correspondent and added that during scrutiny of the reply he found some information was missing in the reply.
Accordingly, he filed first appeal in the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri, who further pulled BMO Kalakote and directed to provide leftover information to the information seeker. “The BMO office, contacted me and I told them about the missing information i.e. academic and professional degrees/certificates some staff members”, he said, adding that however, after lapse of stipulated time for disposal of appeal by the First Appellate Authority (FFA), CMO Rajouri the reply has not been provided to him.
“Govt should order enquiry and take action against administrative heads of block Kalakote, who released salary of staff without asking them for submission of academic and professional degrees/certificates”, he said, adding that he launched a campaign against the health department on the basis of ground reality that most of sub centres (SCs) of Kalakote block are defunct, the staff of these SCs either remained absent and managed their attachment at suitable place.
When contacted the BMO Kalakote said that the salary of the employees who did not submit their documents, has been withheld till they submitted their documents. “On December 10, notice was served to them and their salary has been withheld till further order, now the salary will be released only when this office receives the documents”, he added.
