Central team inspects Watershed Development projects in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Dec 17: A Central team today inspected Watershed Development projects-PMKSY here under IWMP Scheme.
The team, comprising Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India Hukum Singh Meena and DIG (WM), Department of land Resources, Government of India Parveen Kumar Raghav, inspected the projects during an extensive tour of the District.
Chief Executive Officer, State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA), Nodal Officer for IWMP, Department of Rural Development, UT, J&K, Mohammad Rafi, Project Manager, IWMP, Udhampur Sapna Kotwal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Viqar Giri and other officers/officials of concerned department accompanied the Additional Secretary.
The PO IWMP welcomed the visiting central team in the morning and gave a brief description of the IWMP works being executed in the district in the shape of Coffee book table of IWMP works. She informed that since inception of the programme in 2103-14 776 Natural Resources Management and Entry Point Activity works have been completed ending November 2020 there-by expending Rs 136.525 lakh in six sanctioned projects of the scheme.
Later, the union team inspected the works at Dhandal, Prowa Jagir, Larh Sarsoo and Lower Barmeen watersheds of IWMP-V Barmeen Nallah projects.
The officers interacted with the watershed committee members and inspected various works in the watershed areas such as Water harvesting tanks, Bowlies, NBEC Diversion drains. They appreciated the works in the field. Since, now the IWMP works programme is executed in convergence with MGNREGA, Sarpanches/Chairman and watershed committee members demanded that works should be executed as per past practice, since the unskilled labour is not available in the watersheds. Both the officers assured to do the needful. Public also appreciated the efforts of Project Manager, field staff for their cooperation and sincere efforts to make the works programme a success.
