Online Refresher Course in English Language, Literature and Culture Commences at JU

Jammu, Dec 17: A two-week online UGC Refresher Course for University and College teachers in English Language, Literature and Culture organized by Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) University of Jammu in collaboration with the Department of English, JU, commenced here today.The course was formally inaugurated by Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu, who was also the chief guest of the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the importance of organizing such online courses amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also underscored the duties and responsibilities of teachers to update themselves in their areas of specialization.He further complimented the HRDC and Department of English for organizing this Refresher Course on a topic of great literary relevance and importance in the current times.Prof Rahul Gupta, Director, UGC-HRDC, University of Jammu while speaking in the inaugural function, emphasized the reciprocity amongst languages, culture and literature.Earlier, Prof Monika Sethi, HOD English and the Course Coordinator, in her welcome address, emphasized the necessity and importance of such courses in keeping the teachers updated with the latest trends in the related field of academics.Dr. Subhash Chander, Assistant Professor and also the Deputy Co-ordinator of the Refresher Course proposed the formal vote of thanks on the occasion.Prominent among those, who attended the inaugural function, included Prof.Satnam Kour, Prof. Sucheta Pathania, Dr Ravinder Singh, Dr Sadaf Shah and Dr. Garima Gupta. Thirty One teachers of various universities and colleges from both within and outside the State are participating in this Refresher Course.
