12/17/2020 11:25:17 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 17: The outgoing president of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Rakesh Gupta today clarified and counter the alleged baseless misinformation campaign unleashed by some mischievous members.
Addressing media persons, Rakesh Gupta said misinformation campaign has been unleashed by some mischievous members of JCCI just with the malafide motive to malign and tarnish his image regarding the financial position of JCCI.
“They have not only tried to defame me by this misinformation campaign but also tried to put a question mark on the transparent working of the prestigious institution of CCI which at one point of time they represented in different capacities and got name and fame clearly exhibiting their insincerity towards their Apex body of Trade &Industry”, Gupta said, adding that he took over as president in 2014 (JUNE ending) , the liabilities were more than the reserves.
“After taking into consideration a whooping liability of 61 Lacs that was due to be paid to the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) but on 19th Feb, 2020 when the working of JCCI came to a grinding halt, the financial position i.e. the credit balances in CCI’s bank accounts as on that very date were J & K Bank Bahu Plaza 1,50,42,000 (Including FDR’s), IDBI Bank Rail Head Complex 63,67,000, CCB Bank Vinayak Bazar 5,36,000, JCCB Bank Bahu Plaza 30,000. He further clarified that the credit balance lying in the proposed JCCI CLUB’s bank account after paying the GST was J & K Bank Bahu Plaza 2,41,00,000 (JCCI CLUB A/C). Further , the Sundry debtors that included the annual subscriptions due from the Members and Rent receivable upto Mar, 2020 (BSNL & Others) , by the CCI Jammu was approximately 71,40,000. “I would also like to mention that in addition to the figures given above which clearly show the CCI’s & JCCI CLUB ‘s Bank Reserves as on Feb 19th, 2020 to the tune of more than Five Crores , I was also able to receive CDF funds to the tune of 40 Lacs from worthy Jugal Kishore Sharma sitting MP, Kavinder Gupta Ex. Dy. CM, Priya Sethi Ex Minister and Ashok Khajuria Ex MLC. I also managed and received Grant in Aid from the J&K administration Finance department of 50 Lacs total to 90 Lacs for the upgradation of Infra of Chamber House first time ever in the history of CCI, out of which 65 Lacs was already spent in 2017”, Gupta said.
He further said before his tenure the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry had never filled even an income tax returns. “I openly challenge my opponents in the fray for the Post of President JCCI in the forth coming elections for a debate on TV and I also challenge Sharma in particular to make public his personal Balance Sheet of 2009 and 2014 i.e. when he took over as the President and when he left. I shall do the same for my tenure from 2014 & 2020. Let the members of CCI and the people at large know the facts that would speak volumes”, Gupta clarified.
