The cracks in the Gupkar Alliance first emerged from Kishtwar District wherein both PDP and NC fielded candidates against each other.
After failing to reach out on consensus over seat sharing in Kishtwar District, PDP fielded its District President of Kishtwar, Sheikh Nasir Hussain from Kishtwar DDC constituency while National Conference fielded business tycoon Zakir Hussain Butt who has direct fight against BJP leader Sunil Sharma’s close aide Raj Kumar Shan in one on one battle.
Apni party has fielded Abdul Latief Sheikh, who is close confidant of former PDP MLC Syed Asgar Ali, who from PDP switched over to NC and finally landed in Apni Party formed by Altaf Bukhari.
9 candidates are in fray for Kishtwar DDC constituency while 3 candidates are contesting from Trigam DDC constituency.
Besides by-election for 2 vacant Sarpanch seats in Kishtwar and 1 vacant Sarpanch seat in Trigam is also going to be held tomorrow. 6 candidates are in fray for Matta B Kishtwar, besides 3 candidates for Puchhal A and 2 candidates for Trigam vacant Sarpanch seat are in fray.
In this phase a total of 15779 voters are registered for Kishtwar DDC constituency and a total of 6582 voters are registered for Trigam DDC Constituency.
