Following 464 fresh recoveries COVID-19 recovery rate in JK reaches 94.83%, 388 new cases

SRINAGAR, Dec 18: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 94.83 percent as 464 more patients got discharged from different hospitals today. The positive cases of the virus reached 117705 following 388 new cases; the death toll reached 1833 with seven fresh deaths.
Jammu district reported 92 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 82 cases, Anantnag district 36 cases, Pulwama district 33 cases, Ganderbal district 18 cases, Kathua district 16 cases, Budgam district 15 cases, Baramulla district 14 cases, Kupwara district 13 cases, Samba district 11 cases, Udhampur district 10 cases, Doda and Kishtwar districts eight cases each, Bandipora and Rajouri districts seven cases each, Ramban district five cases, Kulgam and Reasi districts four cases each, Shopian district three cases and Poonch district two cases.
Jammu district in the Jammu division reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district in Kashmir valley with two deaths and a death each in Budgam and Udhampur districts in Kashmir valley and Jammu division respectively. So far 1,164 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division 669 such deaths have taken place.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 388 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 163 from Jammu division and 225 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 17,705. Also seven COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and three from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 464 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 213 from Jammu division and 251 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 17,705 positive cases, 4,244 are active positive, 1, 11,628 have recovered and 1,833 have died; 669 in Jammu division and 1,164 in Kashmir division.
Out of 34, 75,137 test results available, 33, 57,432 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 40,991 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 19,491 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,244 in isolation and 27,343 in home surveillance. Besides, 7, 88,080 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 24,620 positive cases, 990 active positive, 23,189 recovered, 441 deaths; Baramulla has 7,807 positive cases, 186 active positive, 7,451 recovered, 170 deaths; Budgam has 7,401 positive cases, 251 active positive, 7,044 recovered, 106 deaths; Kupwara has 5,426 positive cases, 177 active positive, 5,161 recovered, 88 deaths; Pulwama has 5,392 positive cases, 194 active positive, 5,110 recovered, 88 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,729 positive cases, 144 active positive, 4,503 recovered, 82 deaths; Bandipora has 4,591 positive cases, 100 active positive, 4,434 recovered, 57 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,402 positive cases, 123 active positive, 4,237 recovered, 42 deaths; Kulgam has 2,637 positive cases, 64 active positive, 2,520 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,444 positive cases, 78 active positive, 2,329 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 22,660 positive cases, 807 active positive, 21,511 recovered, 342 deaths; Udhampur has 4,002 positive cases, 186 active positive, 3,761 recovered, 55 deaths; Rajouri has 3,755 positive cases, 238 active positive, 3,463 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,331 positive cases, 109 active positive, 3,162 recovered, 60 deaths; Kathua has 3,078 positive cases, 99 active positive, 2,932 recovered, 47 deaths.
“Kishtwar has 2,700 positive cases, 99 active positive, 2580 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,663 positive cases, 200 active positive, 2,429 recovered, 34 deaths; Poonch has 2,426 positive cases, 25 active positive, 2,379 recovered, 22 deaths; Ramban has 2,060 positive cases, 52 active positive, 1,987 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,581 positive cases, 122 active positive, 1,446 recovered, 13 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 17,705 positive cases, 11,074 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
