Early Times Report

Rajouri, Dec 21: The Public Works Department Nowshera has allegedly blacktopped a road from Rumali Dhara to Bareri, Dabbar and Sunderbani by using substandard material nearly a year ago. The condition of the road has become dilapidated and despite assurance by the department the road has not been repaired till date.
The concerned department has continuously been hoodwinking the people of Bareri village, who are most affected, that repair work will be done soon but it has been years, nothing has been done. Former Sarpnach Bareri Mukand Lal and Former Chairman Panchyat Bareri, Social Activist Sanam Raina and Tilak Raj alleged that PWD Nowshera undertook blacktopping of the road in January 2019 against the norms.
“As per rules, blacktopping of road is prohibited during winter season as hot weather is needed for it but disregarding all guidelines, the blacktopping was done in winter season and that too during night hours, which after a few days started breaking,” they alleged.
Although Early Times had published the news item years ago when blacktopping was done and taking note of the issue, concerned ADC had visited the spot and assured that proper blacktopping will be done once winter season is over but nothing has happened.
They further said that there is a very famous temple of Guru Ravidas in the village where a big festival is held in the month of January every year and wherein devotees from across the country visit the temple but due to bad condition of the road, it has become difficult for the people to reach easily.
When Early Times contacted the Executive Engineer PWD Nowshera for his version, he didn’t pick up the call. Meanwhile, ADC Sunderbani Vinod Kumar said that he would inquire about the matter and strict action will be taken against the department for the undue delay.
