No support from other constituents Mehbooba completely isolated in ‘Gupkar Alliance’
12/21/2020 11:14:10 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Dec 21: As the central government has intensified the process to expose PDP leaders’ alleged terror links, the National Conference leadership appears to have preferred not to lend support to Mehbooba Mufti in such cases.
While one of the constituents of Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD)-CPI (M) has reacted against detention of Sartaz Madni and Peerzada Mansoor, the National Conference (NC) leadership preferred to maintain a guarded silence. As far as CPI (M) is concerned, the party has issued a press note in the name of one Ghulam Nabi Malik but the party's face in J&K, M Y Tarigami has also decided to maintain a distance. Other constituents of the PAGD have also maintained a guarded silence in this case. Neither Sajjad Lone nor Awami National Conference have, so far, issued any statement in support of PDP leaders detained by central agencies.
The NC is the main constituent of the PAGD-a conglomeration of some Kashmir based political parties. Interestingly Mehbooba Mufti has supported Dr Farooq Abdullah in the infamous JKCA scam, the NC leadership is not ready to support PDP in cases related to terror links. The NC leadership had earlier not uttered even a single word against the arrest of Wahid Parra by NIA in terror link case.
CPI (M) secretary Ghulam Nabi Malik has termed the detention of Madni and Mansoor Hussain as unwarranted and uncalled for and demanded their immediate release.
“The detentions have come just a day before the results of district development council (DDC) polls which is sheer political vendetta. Rule of law is being flouted with impunity in Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.
