DDC Uhdampur reviews progress of Power Sector projects

UDHAMPUR, Dec 21: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla today chaired a meeting of different wings of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited and contractors to review progress on power sector projects in the district.
The DDC reviewed the status of projects taken up under State sector, Central Schemes and Languishing project scheme.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan; Chief General Manager PGCIL, Jammu Executive Engineer Rajinder Gupta; Executive Engineers STD,TLMD, and other officers of concerned departments besides representatives of different executing agencies and contractors.
At the outset, Chief General Manager (PGCIL), and Executive Engineer, Udhampur Rajinder Gupta gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on the targets and achievements under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, (DDUGY), PMDP and IPDS and other schemes undertaken in PDD sector of the districts.
Detailed discussion were held on various issues which includes Status of languishing projects approved and in pipeline with current execution level timeline for completion, Augmentation /Capacity, Revamping and Stabilization of 33/11 KV receiving stations, Status of 11KVA distribution, Forest issues involved in various PDD projects, Shortage of staff, Expediting the progress of IPDS & DDUGJY etc were discussed in detail.
The DDC asked the executing agencies to update fortnight progress of the schemes and submit the report to PDD Department. The DDC issued instructions to executing agencies to gear up the men and machinery in coordination with other departments to achieve the set targets within the given timeframe time. He stressed upon the concerned authorities to speed up the pace of work on the power projects taken up in the district, and ensure completion of these works within the stipulated period.
The DDC expressed anguish over slow progress of work and Contractors were asked to expedite the same. He directed concerned to carry joint inspection of identified villages to assess the requirements on ground so that they could be taken on priority. Maintaining transparency and accountability in the execution of works was also stressed upon.
